In the much awaited final Gary Carr overwhelmed Maverick Zammit 8-6. The two giants produced a thrilling performance amazing all spectators and enthusiasts in a record time breaker.
Carr took the initial lead but Zammit kept the pace. With the score 7-4 Carr missed a golden opportunity to seal victory but snookered himself on the black ball. Zammit showed great personality clinching two frames narrowing the gap to only one frame.
In the fourteenth frame Zammit’s break did not proof fruitful and Gary stood up to his previous mistake and produced a spectacular clearance that awarded him the title and Euro 2000 in cash prize money.
